The contribution of railway transport system in economic development cannot be over emphasized.

Recently, The Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu flagged off the commercial operations of first phase of the blue line rail in the state.

This Blue Line Rail will move  from Marina to Mile 2 and the First phase of the rail service will transport about 250,000 passengers daily. There is no doubt that this will stimulate intra-trade and commerce and also promote other economic activities in and around Lagos state.

Giving the enormous benefits of railway systems to national development, the federal Government should not hesitate in expanding the investment in railway system in the country and with the recent removal of the rail system from the exclusive list. Each state has the permission to formulate rail system that could bring development to their state with regional plan to stimulate economic activities from region to region to save our road infrastructure from total collapse.

Awards were presented to Recognized professionals and organisations who have contributed immensely to the growth and development in various fields of engineering.
